What car does a gentleman drive? The answer to this question depends heavily on one’s budget and what the car is used for.
Fear not, however, today we give you 8 cars at different price points and with different uses but all suitable for a gentleman!
Let’s dive in.
01 A Classic Land Rover Defender | For the country gentleman

If you live in the country, there is little more gentlemanly than driving a classic Land Rover Defender.
Hailed it for its off-road ability and simplicity, it ran from 1983 until 2016 with practically that same design; it is a classic with a cult following.
It’s also virtually classless, you could be a humble farmer or an estate owner; no one knows with this car. Farmers have been using to haul around equipment for decades but it is also known to be one of the Queen of England’s favorite Vehicles!
It’s not all positive, however. The standard interior of these cars is very basic. There a no modern comforts and much of it is made from hard plastic. Additionally, it does not handle very well at higher speeds and is noisy compared to any modern car.
If you are interested in off-road prowess and a classic country gentleman look but also want more comfort and refinement, we would recommend looking at a Range Rover(number 3 on this list).
While you might expect old Land Rover Defenders to be quite cheap, you would be mistaken. With high demand, second-hand prices have remained relatively high but you are really buying a classic.
At the time of writing, used prices for these cars start at around $30,000 USD in the US. Being a British brand, prices are lower in the UK starting at 10,00 British pounds.
02 A Porshe 911 | For the sporty gentleman

There are few cars more recognizable than a Porshe 911; a favorite among gentlemen who love to drive for decades.
Similar to Land Rover previously mentioned, there are few cars more recognizable than a Porshe 911. The design has stood the test of time, with even modern versions retaining classic design features.
As you might have guessed, the Porshe 911 is a driver’s car. It is known for it’s super handling and acceleration.
Some modern Porshe 911s have sub-three-second 0-60mph times. That’s seriously quick. Even older models are no slouches.
A new Porshe 911 will set you back at least $100,000 but because the car has been around for a long time, there are many to be had on the second-hand market with prices starting at around $24,000.
03 A Range Rover | For the gentleman seeking versatility

Land Rovers are some of the most iconic British cars and Range Rovers are no exception.
If you get the right Range Rover, you won’t be disappointed. There is a good reason why they remain in production years after they were first produced.
They are incredibly comfortable with luxurious interiors and have the off-road ability to handle terrain that lesser cars could not.
The Range Rover is perfect for a gentleman who wants a car that can go from the city to the countryside seamlessly.
A new full-sized Range Rover will set you back about $100,000 but like the Porshe 911, there are many on the second-hand market.
An older, high-mileage Range Rover can be bought for less than $10,000; that’s a lot of car for such a price. It may be wise to pay a bit more thought and make sure that it is in good condition and has been serviced regularly by qualified mechanics.
Luxury cars tend to depreciate in value quite quickly but repairing them can still be expensive. We would recommend holding back a few thousand dollars in case of repair needs.
04 A Classic Mini | For the urban gentleman who needs something easy to park

Some may say that a classic mini is a girl’s car but we would disagree. Mini cars have a long history of being used by young men in need of transportation. Famous mini owners included Steve McQueen, Mick Jagger, and George Harrison.
If you are looking for a car that can be parked literally anywhere, we recommend the classic mini.
It won’t get you places too quickly nor is it the best for long journeys but if you want a stylish car that’s great for urban living, this could be it.
While this car is not the easiest to find, prices start at around $20,000.
05 A Jaguar XJS | For the classic-car loving gentleman on a budget

If you are a classic car lover, the Jaguar XJS should be on your list of considerations. It is a classically styled car with V8 engine and a smooth ride.
This car is for a gentleman who wants something classy and comfortable without breaking the bank. While you might not drive it every day, it makes for a great weekend car.
Of course, reliability can be an issue with cars of such an age. It is advisable to get a pre-purchase inspection if you are not too mechanically inclined and hold some of your budget back for repairs and maintenance.
Best of all, prices for these beauties start at under $10,000!
In our view, there are few cars that compete with the looks, engine, and price of this car.
06 A Bentley Arnage | For the classic gentleman wanting ultimate comfort and presence

Bentley has long been a car brand of choice for the distinguished gentlemen with the brand having a reputation for the highest standards of motoring luxury.
If Bentley is your car of choice, you will not be disappointed with their Arnage. This is a luxury car that has the power and comfort you’d expect from a Bentley.
Of course, being a Bentley, it may be considered a display of wealth so if you are a modest gentleman may want to look elsewhere.
One of the nice things about these cars is that they are typically by older wealthier individuals who take good care of them.
The car was discontinued in 2009 but second-hand models can be picked up starting at about $30,000. However, with a 6.7L engine, running costs must be a consideration. If in need of repair, parts are also expensive.
07 A Mercedes S-Class | For the modern gentleman who wants under the radar luxury

While there are other fantastic cars in this segment, the Mercedes S-class series is one of our favorite modern luxury ranges.
Often bought by well-to-do gentlemen who have a chauffeur, they epitomize modern comfort and luxury. However, unlike a Bentley, they don’t scream money.
Although not built exclusively for speed, it doesn’t mean they don’t have it with the S 580 4MATIC Sedan able to hit 60mph in 4.4 seconds.
While there are different options available, you will need about $110,000 to get into a brand new one of these.
Because they have been around for a long time, an old S-Class can be picked up for just a few grand but we would urge you to be wary about buying a cheap one of these.
08 A Jaguar E-Type | For the gentleman with cash to burn

What can we say about the Jaguar E-Type(or Jaguar XK-E)? If you don’t already know, it is one of the most famous, sought-after classic sports cars in the world. And I am sure you can see why; the design is simply stunning.
Just under 72,000 were produced between 1961 and 1974 and at the time was an affordable sports car.
Of course, this will likely be a second or third car for the gentleman who loves classic cars.
If you have the cash, you’d be hard stuck to find a more beautiful car. You can expect to pay between $55,000 and a whopping $280,000 for one of these beauties.
So there you have it guys! We hope you found this post useful and inspiring. If we have forgotten any cars that deserve a mention, make sure to let us know in the comments below!
